While I do not want to take anything away from the pride of ownership of our friend here and his cape, these two objects also were once the property of Hayes or at least appeared in his book. Maybe there is less of this stuff out there than one knows? My new named SS CAPE.My new named SS CAPE.My new named SS CAPE.

Congratulations once more to the happy, new owner. Now he can try to find the missing swastika as well as the rest of the uniform. Such makes our struggle more interesting. It would have been easier in 1948 with a few cases of cigarettes, or likely a few packs of cigarettes on the black market.

Small world, indeed, and maybe there is less of this stuff left over from 1945 than we think....? In any case, surely did not plan to end up with these, but it sort of happened. Best of luck with your collecting. My blackberry takes lousy pictures, but I cannot bring myself to buy a new camera. My new named SS CAPE.My new named SS CAPE.

The officer one has a more"tellerform"or platelike shape than the EM ones. The Em ones are more jaunty so to speak.Love them all,in any shape or form!

It was the property also of some SS doctor/racial theorist, no doubt.
He would not be happy to know I had his cap, were he informed. I do not think he can read this, though.

According to Saris, the lower the crown, the earlier the cap, but who knows, really?

This cap here is actually quite tall, even in comparison to later caps. My new named SS CAPE.

The officer's cap is unmarked, and it is still to be seen on the Whamond site, whence it came.

A rare piece indeed. Too bad it was mutilated by the owner.
