These are my newest buys to add to my growing SS insignia collection. Still a long way to go to have it where I want to be. I am happy though with every piece I obtain!

I have no idea what the insignia means, the crossed rifles and grenade are ones I have not seen, what does it signify, grenadier????

the crossed rifles tag is for members of the Dirlewanger Brigade,,essentially SS penal units

The Dirlewanger Brigade were known for committing many atrocities. Not a nice bunch of lads at all...

I've read that even regular SS were disgusted by the actions of the Dirlewanger Brigade and sought to disassociate themselves from anything to do with it.

Thanks to you all on the complements. As for the actions of the Dirlewanger Brigade and Einsatzgruppen their acts were both of such that make my stomac turn. The stories of what they perpetrated are nothing short of some of the worst crimes durring the second world war in my opinion.
