There was an upswing recently of awful things posted on this part of the site, and I wanted to look at nicer pictures.

The image of Schreck in the Hoffmann album did I first encounter on or about 1961, and it left an indelible impression on my ambitions.

The first sight of this book was a shock to me, I will tell you.

The book was in the possession of a childhood friend, whose father had been part of the liberation of Dachau.

The book was the remnant of his experience. I saw a lot of disposed Nazi regalia as a wee tyke at the beginning of the 1960s.

Each piece I saw was a shock, electrifying and startling....
