The skull posted first is Original! not a cast.
Here are other aluminium's one. The skull posted first is absolutely original. It has lost a bit of his details due to grounddug.
Thanks for the additional images in their variety. Let me plain: I would not buy these things based on the images alone.
Once more, there is a need on this site for an authoritative and measured tutorial on these with sufficient evidence.
No one has volunteered for this task, though others declaim endlessly on other sites on these odd and narcotic badges.
Why does no one accept their collective responsibility?
I am not an expert in these things, though I own more than some.
Who then is the king of the Totenschaedel?
The dagger website had a useful analysis of these badges at the start of the decade.
Also, some of the other self appointed internet savants have what can only be described as very odd theories about these objects derived from what is surely incomplete evidence.
How sad that no independent, disinterested and reliable authority exists for these objects which excite such an irrational and ill informed discussion.

or, in fact.... but why beat a very dead horse....?
I have not pried these off their homes for the last several decades, but certain of the "authorities" in fact vandalize caps to the degree that they would strip same from caps as these and sell the discarded cap. What sort of person would do that, I ask you?
In a distant time, personages stripped insignia from intact uniforms to fill their riker mounts of blessed memory.
I suppose others shot the decorations off of the monuments of antiquity or pillaged whatever notable object with no regard for its historical value, so why am I actually surprised?
For instance, siehe da! Historical flotsam. Someone even glued the visor on this cap so it is off by 10 degrees.
