    Default Otto kumm's tunic?

This was my first gray S S officer's tunic. It has been in Chicago area collections since at least the mid-1960's. The owner was a man of slight build. I have studied the body structure of al Der Fuhrer officers who reached this rank and were recipients of the Deutsche Kreuz in Gold. My only possibility for ownership was Otto Kumm. the tunic is also well worn have a couple of period darned repairs. The verbal provenance with this tunic was it was purchased from a German civilian post war in the streets of Hamburg. The arly pattern insignia hints that this was made for the officer in the pre Waffen S S pahse. The collar tab is an unusual, but original pattern verified in period photos. The arm eagle was silver wash on copper wire. The silver has long eroded leaving a gilt eagle on the sleeve.

Now that would be a tunic to own, is there any way to track it down further?

unfortunately, around 45 years has gone by since this was bought from a veteran. Back in those days, we did not understand the importance of documenting the name of the soldier who brought it back and where he got it. I beleive kumm was from the hamburg area originally, from where this tunic was bought. Being a well worn tunic, possibly his wife sold it to get money for the essentials of life.

Very nice tunic, did the medals belong to the tunic or where they later added?

    Nick-
All of the medals are original but not to the tunic. As most tunics were taken from closets or barracks, they are seldom found with anthing attached except possibly a ribbon bar.

This doesn't matter a thing nor does it changes it's value. I was just being curious after I read the story that came with it...
