My favourite SS "item" is this grouping to Gerhard Lotze. With it are documents and papers that go back to when he was 12 years old in the HJ, RAD, then an SS recruit, then SS Officer training school and combat training school. Various newspaper articles on Lotze who was a war hero, photos, loose insignia, papers are included in the group. He won the RK, DKiG, EK1, EK2, IAB, CCC and wound badge. He was seriously wounded in 1943 and KIA after Christmas near Warsaw in 1944. The after action report in which he was KIA and award documents are also part of the grouping. It is I believe the most complete singular Waffen SS grouping that is known, everything coming from his brother. This uniform was the one he was KIA in.

Amazing Grouping Doug, if it's not the only grouping like it out there it's certainly the best. Well done on finding it.
Impressive, Doug. As you say; an absolute rarity. Thanks for posting.
Any word on how the uniform he got killed in made its way back to the 'homeland.'
(not that I doubt your word)
It is documented actually. His uniform and effects were sent back to his family by the unit, a Soviet attack fell and he led a defence and small counter attack and died of blood loss after being hit by a mortar blast. The exact action is in a book on SS Wiking. The map of the action is also provided in the after action report where he was recommended and won the Knights Cross posthumously. I can actually go to the very spot he was wounded in Poland and intend to make that a trip one day.
Magnificent group Doug.
Congrats and thanks for posting. Again magnificent.
All the best
Dave
