As I said, that's a marking with some different purpose than the large Garnitur stamps.
Wehrmacht garments had a stamp identifying the depot and year of procurement in that space. (For example "B42" for "Berlin 1942" etc.) I would tend to assume that the police marking likewise identified a depot or procurement office, but can't offer a definitive explanation.
