"Nonetheless I hope that the tunic does turn out to be original for the sake of the current as I am sure that it was not cheap, despite the fact that it was bought at an auction."

    Thank you sir.

I think this tunic was on the WAF estand a while back for peanuts and I don't know what happened to it. Collectors didn't go near it because of the odd restoration and the odd collar. What auction site was it on if you don't mind me asking? Craig Gottlieb?

I can't comment on authenticity, sorry.

Yes it was on Craig's. I feel fine with the tunic now. As soon as I receive it, I will be going over it with a black light. FYI, it sold for $1,000 on estand. The owner then is a very nice gentlemen.

Blacklight is indicative of nothing in terms of originality, it will just show what glows. Fluorescent dies were in widespread use in the German garment trade in the 19th century, the blacklight myth seams to have been dealers trick from the 70's, there is science behind it but the conclusions in this respect are specious, you may as well be finding the image of jesus in a tortilla. There is a good technical article about this with respect to TR in an old militaria journal. pm me your e e-mail and I can send you a copy.

You need to look around the collar as army tab insignia is longer and wider
