Outstanding cap, I have made it clear before on my love for silken caps. Seeing them all together in a thread is a joy.

What happened to the General silken cap that Pepera owned?

Is the black material below the band also in silk, or is it the standard wool? I briefly owned an earlier one, perhaps c. 1935 or so, which had the cream Sonderanfertigung lining with runes; I seem to think that it had a matching silk base along the bottom. Paul Sack has or had a similar example once owned by Karl Wolff and it appears in his wonderful book "Exotische"...
The bottom band of the cap, the narrow one, is silken, too. On the army field cap of silk, the bottom is field grey wool.
    Thanks.

You can see it fairly clearly here, the silk under the bottom piping.

I have seen many imperial silk caps, which get ratted out and disintegrate, but this one has been well kept.

One day it will be the pride of someone else's collection.
