I have this same repro. eagle on an SS m43 that I just purchased as a "theater prop".I am trying to determine the age of the hat.If you could tell me when this fake first appeared in the market place ,I can get an idea on the age of the hat.

I first came across such repros in 2004 or 2005 (but they may have been around since a few years before). Dating the repro cap from this may not be a working method. The repro cap might have been made in the '80s or '90s and embellished at a later date (please consider repro headgear made and marketed without insignia, namely in Germany)
