    Well, can't dispute the collective wisdom here. "SS" not my forte (lol). However, in all seriousness (refrain from jokes now) this is one of two tabs that came to me from a retiring coworker in 1979 in a box which was given to him together with an SA, Hitler Youth dagger and a flag. Yes folks the other stuff is real, I wonder how he got these tabs? I know how I got them. I will not dispute nor will I comment on the comedy contained in some replies here.

    In 1979, such a fake tab well existed in the militaria market of said era. I know, for I was there.

    SS Collar TabA page from the Manion's catalog, ca. 1978. I bought the two black caps, one of which I still own.
    When the Mollo books appeared in the late 1960s, the SS regalia trade was revolutionized with a plethora of fake collar tabs and such.
