Default SS cuff title Das Reich

    Hello guys,

first of all I would like to introduce myself. I am not exactly a collector as I only pick up, time to time, some insignias, but Iam interested in the history of the WWII, especially the french résistance (I used to live near Le Vercors). While surfing, I discovered this very interesting forum. I could find many information about the war and some very nice collections. I wolud like to thank all the people here for sharing.

Few months ago I found this cuff title which I believe was part of my uncle's collection (my cousin gave it to me). I am not a specialist and I would like to have your opinion about it. As far as I understood, this is an old cuff band for a uniform of the SS division ? Right ?

    Thanks for answering.

Hello and welcome to the forum!
I have moved your post and started a new thread for your cuff title. I have also uploaded your photo directly to this post as we prefer not to post links due to them disappearing in the future and leaving us with a useless thread.
    Please read.

Welcome to the forum. We would also like to see a reverse shot of the backside of the cufftitle to give a proper opinion.

It appears to be a fine period original cuff title.

Do you mean, Bob, that this is an era Das Reich cuff band ? It would be great !

Bob means this is an original Third Reich period cuff title to the Das Reich Division !

Thank you all ! This is a "good" souvenir from my uncle. I do not know where he got the cuff title (he died 4 years ago - aged 68) and I am not sure his son knows about it. I will ask him. If I have further information, I will post them.

    Once again, thank you.

"....T The first scan is from Angolia's book, showing an example
of "Das Reich" with the pattern most encountered, with
thin lettering. The example on the forum is one that
displays a beefier/thicker lettering that can sometimes
not display the crispness of the wording well, and can
    cause letters to be distorted.
These features are covered in Ulric of England's booklet,
Collecting Third Reich SS & Political Cuffbands, Vol.2,
pp. 5-8, which I have reproduced here for the convenience
of forum readers. Note that this "distortion" is more
prominent on the "Adolf Hitler" specimen than the
    "Langemarck" example...."
The lettering on the "Das Reich" example on the forum,
if original, displays quite a few distortions that the
thick production versions may have yielded in more than
one title, and may not be cause enough to declare it a
post-war piece. In this case, authenticity depends strongly
    upon the cuffband's provenance...."
