Good evening,
I would need help to identify if the visor cap on pictures is original one or fake. I am not expert so I would appreciate any kind of help.

The insignia is fake, and so is the cap, reminds me strongly of the "Latvian" fakes that flooded the market a few years ok. IMHO Not good

Fake yes but it's not the usual type from Latvia. Actualy I'd say it's a creation made from original parts. I'm fairly certain the complete upper part of the cap has been taken off and resewn back on, look at the creases just above the upper centre band piping. Sweatband is completely wrong.

What about the top piping Ben, i thought that original piping didnt have a metal core, but was made entirely of rolled cloth then covered in the appropriate coloured outer fabric

Looks like a post-war/Bundeswehr cap made up with fake insignia.

Not true Dave, the piping stiffener can be made of metal, wood, cord or even a white waxy plastic looking material.

I think Walkwolf is correct, Bundes cap most likely.

that is why authentic,unmessed with SS items are so prohibitively expensive!
