We all study our own areas of expertise and pride ourselves in the knowledge that we would recognise wartime examples from post war but maybe in some areas that task is more difficult than we ever imagined?

Truth be told, that's why I left the other forum. Too many people trying to bully everyone else into this false belief that everything during the TR period and even after it was all uniform and by the book. That's just totaly inaccurate and completely misses the point. I'm more proud of saying that I'm still learning and really still don't have a clue than of saying that I know it all and won't listen to other suggestions.
