not defending this one FYI just the first that I have ever seen. I would think if fake somebody else out there would have come across this as well (seems odd to make the tooling to produced only 1 of these and call it quits; perhaps we'll see more in the future)

This badge is an amalgam of symbols from Braunschweig's medieval and dynastic epoch as well as the recycling of a Waffen SS recruiting leaflet motif from the wartime.
I have collected SS regalia for nearly fifty years, and this arrangement of symbols does not jibe.
Granted the enduring appetite for SS Kitsch, my theory would be that this is a new fake.

Braunschweig also has the SS association with the Fa. Clemens Wagner, with its many SS caps.
