Though, one must also say, that, if the legendary and mythical GI tore off the sleeve in May, 1945, there is some poetry to same, as well. However, I have never much cared for this kind of story, in fact.
I am just as happy with the piece found years later in a hock shop or wherever, without smoke and gun powder or whatever.

If you had a time machine, you could ask these people about their cross grain on their dagger, and the dings in the pommel, as well as the vertical stripes. I am sure they would regard you as a complete nit wit. I am also sure that some who post on sites (like the maroon one...) would then try to tear the sleeve off to secure the brassard.
