SS patch for sport shirt with skull, I have never seen

Hi,

I've got this from a trustable source, but I have never seen this pattern. I couldnt restist because of collecting skulls ;-)

Maybe from SS-T??? Maybe a private patch for the swim dress?
I like the construction and it's look.

Does one has informations ???

I very strongly doubt that it has any connection with the SS, as the skull looks like no pattern officially used by the SS.
My gut feeling is that this one of the numerous variants of the Totenkopfschwimmerabzeichen [Death's Head Swimmer Badge], an unofficial swimming badge with a long tradition, which is awarded for swimming at least one hour (originally in the open sea, these days usually in swimming pools).

this style of a skull was mapped to SS in my mind, indeed.

So it is a civil patch, is one able to tell the period this pattern was produced? I read that these swim patches were produced pre and post war.

I'm sure i will be ridiculed for this.But i'm sure i remember seeing one or something very similar on the WAF im sertain it was something to do with swimming.I can't quite remember if it was deemed real or not.Dont throw it away just yet i will try to find the thread on the WAF if i can.
