SS regalia: fakes and rarity as seen in the year 1936
We know that SS regalia is problematic.
It was also, apparently, rare in its day, as this model table of sales statistics from a particular RZM licensed retail outlet so indicates as found in UM.
Ergo, there was never a surplus of SS regalia in the epoch, so we should scarcely wonder at its rarity today.

and the fakery of Nazi uniforms was a problem of the era...here naturally freighted with the racist agenda of the party. If you read the UM and the RZM thingies, this sort of thing is pretty common and very interesting. A lot more interesting than RZM marks on badges, by half.
However, there is no pretty picture in this article.

Nice to the evidence in black and white. Interesting stuff. All goes back to primary sources which we keep banging on about, but you just cannot beat it.
Cheers, Ade.

The BDM sales are much lower than one would expect.

Quite possibly. In any case, the SA and PL sales are much more than the SS, which is my point.

It also looks like sales were much higher in December. I wonder how many bits of Nazi regalia were bought as Christmas presents?
