Re: SS Sahariana mystery
Hi, this is actually not a Sahariana pattern tunic. These have a yoke over the shoulders which forms the breast pocket flaps.
This is just a standard later pattern tropical tunic worn in Italy and the Balkans and possibly Southern Russia.
Cheers, Ade.

Re: SS Sahariana mystery
Thanks Ade,
This is then a legitimate SS tunic? I have found a photo of this style jacket in Beaver's "Uniforms of the Waffen SS"
It's interesting to note that some SS tropical tunics have SS collar tabs and others don't. Maybe some reglations were not being followed.
Regards and thanks for looking.

Re: SS Sahariana mystery
i think only insignia of rank were to be worn on these tunics, but some used collar tabs, some didn't,,,looks like the regs were'nt enforced much,,,

Sorry Bob, I think the Kriegsmarine Tropical tunic is a different style and cut from the sample above.
There's quite a few examples of the KM's on the other site but I believe non are similar to this one. I could be wrong though! Thanks for looking.
