Here are examples of both types. The 'reversed' example is actually slightly smaller in size. I picked up the reversed size only because of dumb luck in that I happened to be at the right place and the right time when a large collection in Houston was broken up.
To my knowlefge the reversed version is not reproduced (yet).

actually if you look in ss uniforms insignia and accoutrements byhayes their is a photo with both examples in wear and they are exactly the same size.maybe yours is for a different sports application?

I can't swear that every one of the 'reversed' ones was of a different (smaller) size but this one is.

I got on line and found Mollos picture history of the SS,used for $4.00 and $4.00 to ship it to me

It is a good size book.

Here is the very first pattern sports badge in wear in 1934 by members of the Adolf Hitler Standarte. It appears to be the same size as the white backed runic badge that replaced it. I can't say that I have a picture of the smaller black backed badge in wear but I will look.
Also Bob, don't forget to make room for the reverse pattern of the LAH large eagle sports badge.
