I usely always in agrement with you guys but on this one.I am going to go with good field made item.
chris
Even if field made and genuine, the pattern makes no sense, thus valueless. If you buy it, you will be the final owner of it. It was likely made by someone who was not familiar with what a real SS tab looked like.

While on the subject , the deviant ranksystem of movieprops may be of interest here too ? No efforts spared to make a convincing " bad guy " ..
Chris,
I think you are wrong on this one, at $2 you can't argue with the price but I think that when the seller said they were "field made" he meant that they were made in a field, probably somewhere in Kansas!!!

I have a mate who is in a community theatre group, apparently I'm his " go to bloke" when they require info on anything German that may be involved in one of their plays.....I was thinking the same thing,as they make their own "versions" of insignia.....this looks like a peice made by them, enough to get the impression of a German insignia to a small crowd on a budget!!!
Many items were were altered to a custom fit once in the field usually for a more comfortable or front trendy/wary look , but no need to with collar tabs as it was easy to get the Kompanie tailor to add some nice originals i can't see that anyone would want these things on their uniform !! Not good ones Chris i'm afraid !!

Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,
But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader
