Here is one of these fake bird that has been cut front and back. Notice how the white thread on the back goes all the way to the top past the wings. If this bird was not cut that white thread would go right to the edge of the strip on which the bird is machine embroidered. This white thread on an original bird kind of loops back into the negative space of the design.
Also, another thing about these fake birds that I've noticed is that they usually come sewn on a piece of cloth so you can't see the tell-tell sign of the white thread.
I hope this helps.
All the best,
David
thanks again guys i have learned a lot from this , and them eagles are getting good but scary, i have had my lah tunic bubble burst but at least i didnt spend £5000 on it then found out,, the seller never gave me a price but from the vibes it wouldnt have been fortunes,, cheers Dave
Hi Dave, as I mentioned before, even a stripped Heer tunic has a value. It might be possible to turn this deal around if the price is right? Sell the repro insignia for what it is and rebuild the tunic back to Heer.
Cheers, Ade.
Hi Ade, i will try and get the tunic if the price is right cheers Dave
