A strange type of SS skulls

Hello.

I'm an amateur hobbyist in this matter, and I have seen many photos of original SS items on the internet, but never have I seen a WW2 period picture with this type of skull in it, despite seeing it in several reproduction stores:



Is it a late war model that did not see much use, or a fantasy piece made up by repro makers? I'm asking this because of curiosity.

It is more or less derived from the badge used on the collar of the SSTV more or less from 1936 or so until 1939 or so.

In fact, much of the SS regalia in the internet is fake. Much of the SS regalia that turns out to be authentic is right in this very spot.
