Steve is correct. Heer Panzer or Waffen SS both used black backed chevrons.

Well that makes sense but the actual chevron tress style doesn't change? The silver style and the tan-yellow color doesn't give any hints? I'd love to own either but I wish I knew which was which.
Easy solution-they're not that pricey- pick up one of each!

You can make them be whatever you want-SS or Heer panzer. I doubt these were designed to confuse a collector market 70+ years after the fact.
