Mike...thanks for your permission for the image of the " Karpathenkorps kratzchen " to be used and indeed remain in this post, it is indeed a cracker !...the badge looks to be 100% original to the cap, the only one I have seen as such ! Correct me if I am wrong, but was this cap not sold on E-Bay some years back ? I seem to remember saving the image from the auction site, because I realised its importance....feel free to upload more of this superb kratzchen ! oh and welcome to the forum !
    Prost ! Steve.

    Gentlemen,

Fab examples posted and excellent thread with great info for both novice and experienced collectors !

I hope I am not being out of turn posting here but as the field cap also had a version with a peak and chinstrap issued to medical, train and some specialist troops from 1908 onwards, I thought for continuity it may help to have an example for reference.

The cap dimensions were the same as for the field cap.....essentially the peak and chinstrap were just added on.

This one is for medical personel.

    cheers

    tony

    Goodday Gentlemen,

I have been toying with the ideal of purchasing a kratchen, but I just don't get the right feel for this one. So, I thought I'd ask the forum's opinion.

Two things that bothered me about this is, for one, the placement of the kockades and the date of 1916 is a little early for the universal Kratchen, isn't it?

    Tony,

Superb M08 Dienstmütze! These are difficult to find and though not often worn by any combat branch troops, a very desirable piece. Few realize that the Sanitäter had red band and piping before they adopted the medical colors. Just curious as to why you have not added the state cockade? Thanks for showing this!

    Anton,

That's a nice Train cap. Too bad you may have cut away the original sewing on the Prussian cockade. It pays not to be in too much of a hurry on these things and get more than one opinion before you make alterations. By the way, love the Krepp - Papier!
