This is a fairly scarce Leibgarde visor from the premier Hesse Darmstadt bodyguard Regt., the 115, one of the oldest regiments in Germany. This regiment worn the Garde star on their helmet and Litzen on both collar and cuffs. Founded in 1621. Note red enamel cocarde.
Hesse a small state compared to Prussia, Bavaria, Saxony, etc. This is the first Hesse visor I have – about 1914/1915, by the top quality doeskin. Oxide green sweatband. Named in two places to the NCO.
