Default Grandfather's Austro-Hungarian ID Booklet (Militaerpass)

Here for your perusal is my Grandfather's Austro-Hungarian Militaerpass (Military passport) with translation of details below. Fortunately he immigrated to the USA in 1913 and thus missed the Great War. Many of his relatives who served in the same regiment on the Eastern and Balkan Fronts were wounded in action. Thanks to the Czech Republic on-line Achives posting of Austro-Hungarian Casualty Lists I was able to track down information about several of them.

***) Service sheets contain personal data and military careers of Austro-Hungarian Army’s soldiers. Unfortunately, the service sheets of Hungarian soldiers are not preserved in the Vienna War Archives, but were destroyed in Hungary and Yugoslavia after 1918, especially or during WWII.

****) Franz Fuderer was not on active duty for 3 years but had to be trained for 8 weeks only as “Ersatzreservist” (“replacement’s reserve” man). After that he had to be drafted for further service only in case of general mobilization in war times.

*****) In case he returned to Hungary to fight with the Imperial & Royal (Austo-Hungarian) Army in WWI, we can do some research at the Austrian War Archives; in addition, you may turn to the Hungarian military archives in Budapest:
