olssonowe...confirmed, Austro-Hungarian M17 Stahlhelm. Value, as it stands, approx 200-250 Euro. Original condition ones with original canvas type chinstraps go for approx 500+ Euros.

olssonowe...you have done a great job, on removing the paint ! the helmet looks like it would of done, back in 1917 !....the liner looks to be of the type used originally, similiar to the German M17 liner, i.e. a metal band with 3 leather pads attached (there should be small pillows tied on the back of each pad) , and could well be the helmets original liner...can you remove the paint ? then re-install using the liner pins, but dont use the leather chinstrap, that is wrong for the Austro-Hungarian helmet.

Yes thats a good idea. Ill leave all the paint that is inside the helmet intakt, its ww2 luftwaffe and a part of the helmets history. (But Im removing the yellow norwegen factory paintjob thou hehe)
Re paint on leather removing it, it can be done. But one must be carefull not to go to far. Better litle paint left then breaking the leatherskin... (well thas wath I think).
    what helmets do you colect?
