Hi Chaps, here's a bit of a odd one. The medal is a Military Long Service Cross, III class for 6 years service (4th issue) 1913 to '18, a variant with silvered medallion and oak wreath. It was instituted on 12th March 1890 for long and faithful service in the Austro-Hungarian armed forces. This example is for O/Rs (officers had a different design of medal) It's quite rare as it has a silvered medallion with an oak wreath surround. Others had a plain brass roundel without a wreath.
The really odd thing about this one to me is the plastic/celluloid ribbon. From what I can gather they were a private purchase item experimenting with a different material. This one is not in great condition as you can see with cracks & a chip & is very delicate & hardened with age,
Cheers,
Richard.
