Maybe it would be better to trade it with some novice collector as an "starting" dagger.
Sadly I do not know what the value is since i do not collect daggers.
Sadly, it has been cleaned-and many times so. The silver plating is nearly total gone and the blade has been scrubbed down with something like steel wool. A common thing that GI's did to "clean up" their trophies, but it more than a little dismays the collectors of today! The condition this one is in now would be a good filler piece for a casual collector but of little interest for a serious blade collector.

Just what I thought, thanks. Lets say a maker marked original such as this in good collectable condition is $695 US, what then would this cleaning have done to the value?

Unfortunately, not. Once marred, the blades cannot be Unmarred.

Just look at this dagger and then tell me whats not textbook about it.

The crossguard is a high lift but different than most that I have seen.
