Have this in my hands again now....the more I hold it the more I like it. When I bought it, it was a 30 sec purchase out of the back of a car. It thought it was "OK". But looking at the details now, while not a minty example it really is nice with great details.

I agree with Ger.. this one looks correct with the cool early pommel and type two guard.. just ONE step newer than a double oval.. Kevin..

Hey, production started in 35' so yes.. this is an early piece. I would estimate 36' - 37'. Here is a double oval from my collection for comparison....
Nice pick up Map,I like it!I have a k98 bayonet with a couple of "door" dents on scabbard,a part of its history.
Dont forget that the Eickhorn Type 1 in aluminium always comes with this 35-41 logo, never with the double oval.
End of 1935 early 36 would be my best guess.
