    My friend has this dagger. His Uncle served in WWII and brought it back.
    The maker is A.W. JR Solingen.
    It appeared to be a Heer dager to me except the eagle hand guard is Gold instead of Silver.
    Please tell me what I have here.

    IMO, it has been painted gold.
    If you look a the pommel edge, you can see the original silver finish showing.

    Anton Wingen is the ptoducer which at a quick glance all of which appears to be consistent in a 1936 production type.
    Member Gerrit will weigh in more if I missed a few details.
    The dagger is period and original .

    The crossguard as Ralph states is painted and never left the factory that way. Postwar improvisation. Should be a silver type color.
