Crossguard is generic type A.
Supposedly is designed by last WKC 3. type crossguard, if we counting the 3. major WKC croosguard design.
There were also some small WKC crossguard designs - like 1a.

Why would they plate a blade? Is it chrome on steel?
The blade is nickel plated.
They did this primarily because brightness of blade.
Chromium is difficult to apply in thin layers, and it is less glossy then nickel.
