2nd Pattern - Smooth Alloy Handle - Miss attributed as "Polish Para" issue.

2nd pattern, Smooth Alloy handle, Machine ground blade.

This type has for some reason been attributed in many publications as the "Polish Para" issue knife.

I showed this example to various Polish Para veterans alongside a "Standard" 2nd pattern B2, and asked the question, which type were you issued with.
In ALL instances, the 2nd pattern B2 type was selected.
Also, examples found in the area of Driel (Polish Para drop zone and entrenchment) also match the B2 issue.

So, be aware, when a smooth alloy handled 2nd pattern crops up, no matter if a Polish cap badge has been pinned to the scabbard, or a name inked on the leather, the "title" of Polish Para issue is fantasy.

The thing is that the dagger is AOK.

As ever though, certain "unanswered" have arisen, ...

1) Who manufactured them ?.
2) How many were contracted to be made ?.
3) Why the difference in specification ?.
4) Were they made to special order like the US Ranger models ?.
5) And of course, ... were they manufactured for a specific group of soldiers ?.
