    Looks good to me.
I believe the -> I indicates the Indian acceptance mark. ( I might be wrong on this).
The "England" stamp means that this knife was sold commercially to the US.

Hopefully someone with a bit more knowledge can confirm this.

The /I\ I is the acceptance mark for the India Stores Department, the 'england' marking was added after the war to knives that where sold as surplus to the US in '46. Around 170.000 F-S's went as (partly) payment for the war debt. Mostly 3th patterns but also some 2nd patterns and some variations on the 2nd pattern.

So, just so I am clear, this F-S is from the UK then sent to the Canteen in India, then from India to the US, where it made it's way to Canada?

..and this is WW2 or post war manufactured..?

    thanks for the help cats

Could you post some better pics of the clamp marks of the pommelnut and also the blade, its hard to see if its blued? But so far yes WW2 and than made in the UK and traveled from the UK to Canada, not nesecarily via India as these marks where done in London (well for the 2nd pattern so i assume also the 3th pattern) at the Indian Store Depot.. so maybe this one was in storage and taken out to be send to the US just after the war and than made its way to Canada.. Or it was send to India and send back to the UK.. The england mark just showes where the knife came from before being sold in the US.. But i guess we will never find out if it ever reached India..

I have one of these knives in my posession for over 25 years , I now know it's FS 3rd pattern fighting knike. It looks exactly like the one in the picture. Peculiar to mine is some markings on the handle towards the hilt. there a pair of cross keys beside the letter "D" which has a star on the top, would love to know what the markings mean, anybody help ?

    Kind regards

    Easy
