I bought a series of buttons and one stands out as appearing rather old. It is an ordnance button, domed style with shank. A bit of research shows similar ones used by Hessian German troops during the Revolutionary War. Any other usage? It is bronze.

The French used similar buttons and perhaps the N is for Napoleon. Also the British Fusiliers used a similar motif on cap badges so perhaps Northumberland Fusiliers.

    Any idea on it's age?

The form of the back suggests very early, probably the period you suggested or perhaps the war of 1812. Hopefully others can help you out with more detail.
