I think this early EREL medical Officer crusher with direct sewn wool wreath belongs here.

    Hi all,

Been hitting the sites looking for period photos over the past few weeks. Here are a couple of crackers showing my favourite cap in wear.

First circa 1925 of officers and men wearing the field cap.

second from a photo album I picked up: dated 1926 the caption indicates they are just off for a little stroll....or route march

    Tonights offering....

In late 1927 regulations changed to introduce the officers chincord. This was silver for officers to rank of Oberst and gold for those above. It was made from "german silver" thread and hence tarnished with age.

This is a cap I have shown before but is as close as you can get to the 1927 regs cap in terms of measurements and insignia. it is a private purchase from Robert Lubstein...

My latest addition. A 1919 field cap. This one is dated 1924, has acceptance markings for the Munich clothing depot and was issued to JR 15. It also still retains the owners name tag which is a real bonus. the wearer was a Herr Keil.

A few more shots of the lads wearing them...............

This one is a cracker, spoof shot taken by the 5th Kompanie IR 12 who are using carts as mock up tanks. The back reads the T24 tank. The men wear an assortment of caps including the field cap and peaked cap.

Nice group shot, again mid 1920's. Two men at the front are WW1 vets as shown by the medal ribbon on their tunics. All "12 Jahre" volunteers.

The machine gun section. This would make them the 16th kompanie in the battalion as this was the heavy weapons section.

This is my favourite picture. There is something about communal eating that acts as a real leveller. The people in the picture are all laughing and the relaxed atmosphere of the gathering round the "goulash cannon" transends frontiers. Plus they are all wearing my favourite type of hat !

Another find. This rather nice shot of an infantry oberfeldwebel from a bavarian Regt. Can't quite make out the numerals on the schulterklappen to pin it down. High collar M1920 eight button tunic is shown to advantage, my guess the cap is private purchase with officer cockade.

Very nice images. The equestrian shot is especially nice. The Rw uniform was influenced by the U.S. uniform of the era, as there was a fairly lively officer exchange and cooperation between the U.S. Army and the Rw, as well, of course, as with the Red Army. These facts are lost in the overemphasis on the years 1933-1945. The Rw is a special love of mine, and I am glad that our colleague has embarked on this pleasing photo essay. The Rest Militaria Verlag work on Rw uniforms is also among my favorites and puts the Schiffer works totally to shame.

Ok, more images of caps in wear................

I like this one of the team. They are from 5th kompanie Inf Regt 12 in Sennelager 1933. Of note is the uniform of the old Army still in use. The soldiers wear the puttees and leather knee protection on the trousers from Imperial times. (I think).

    Plus the field cap.

This other photo shows the senior NCO's gathered around the CO. They wear the post 1933 insignia on the caps which helps date the shot around 1934 ish

At last a new cap for the thread...pioneer m1920 service cap.

Dated 1922 and issued to pioneer battalion 2. Owners name tag still inside matches stamps on the lining.
