I am sure that is a fake. It does not look right, as I am sure you will agree.

Horrible fake complete with burnt bits to try and age it.

Re: Reichswehr Infantry cap on e bay
The voice of authority. Notice also how dorky looks the piping, which is also a dead give away. Early Rw caps had no cello shield, which only appeared at the end of the 1920s or the beginning of the 1930s. A ton of authentic caps of this type appeared from Babelsberg twenty years ago, and I thought such were enough to keep tastes fulfilled. Rw material is interesting and desirable for many reasons.

And I think the fakers have cottoned on to it now because I don't recall seeing any fake Rw items until quite recently.

Challenge and response in an unending cycle. Someone uninformed will become easy prey. I sold off all my Rw things, which is sad.

Cheers Gentlemen for your input.
I thought it was worth posting as an example of what is creeping around out there. Just in case somebody got burnt.
First wrong one I have seen from the RW.
cheers

Haw sad these are being faked. I thought it looked too thin and the visor was wrong? Is that one of the problems with this cap?
Cheers, Pat
