    Default 1938 S/42 - what do I really have?

I'm new to Luger collecting and wonder if my research on this Luger is correct. This 1938 S/42 has all matching numbers, except for the magazine and grips. Most of serial # are white, but the "Gesichert" is not. The extractor is red. On closer examination, I found an "X" on the frame. There is also an import mark on the underside of the barrel. I've concluded this Luger to be a Russian capture and possibly reblued. Is that correct? Any more info on this Luger would be much appreciated.1938 S/42 - what do I really have?1938 S/42 - what do I really have?1938 S/42 - what do I really have?1938 S/42 - what do I really have?1938 S/42 - what do I really have?1938 S/42 - what do I really have?1938 S/42 - what do I really have?1938 S/42 - what do I really have?

    Default

It's a Russian captured Luger as is evidenced by the "X" stamping.

    Default

As already said... a Russian capture pistol. It is likely to be a re-worked and re-blued pistol issued to Communist East German forces, or Volkspolizei. Not all the VOPO guns had the Polizei stamp on them.
