I must admit that I have never been too comfortable about the "bronze" version of this SA pin.

Loose and soft detail as possibly, a fake.

I don't know, David. They look pretty spot on to me? In places the bronze has better detail than the silver.

Thankyou for the really great "photo merge". I must admit and now on reflection, that the bronze example is not as severe as what I first suggested. In the cold light of day though, hard to believe that this pin is being faked.

Perhaps interesting to note that this small, cheap and cheerful donation "day" badge is undated and furthermore provides no other information whatsoever to include say the location, SA Gruppe/Brigade, etc.
