Sorry, this is a well-known fake. The RZM had nothing to do with the Reichsleitung des Arbeitsdienstes,
the RLAD sign, which one can find with most of these badges. The number is of course the year of manufacturing.

In volume 4 from the series "Headgear of Hitler's Germany", the chapter about RAD, these insignia are well
explained over the pages 284 through 295 (enlisted) and pages 296 through 299 (officers).

The RAD Always has been one of my favorites (next to HJ). About the RAD traditions cap badges I covered
these symbols over the pages 386 through 448. Yes, over 50 pages with explanations, showing the various
patterns and from most also the wearing.

    Oh dear, thank you Wilhelm.
This just goes to show how we forget those fundimental little pointers that distinguish between good and bad. I bought this from a very knowledgeable and trustworthy dealer and probably so wanted it to be real that I overlooked the obvious....shame on me! I will be contacting the dealer to seek a refund or at least partial refund as it was bought quite a while ago. Thanks again Wilhelm, your knowledge and candour are well appreciated.

Here a note from the "Mitteilungsblatt der Reichszeugmeisterei" from
March 2, 1935 with the organizations the RZM had nothing to do with.
For the NSKOV and NSKK the RZM took care of purchasing material
and to deliver it to the related NSKOV or NSKK management. No more then that!

Here some pages from volume 5 for the series "Headgear of Hitlers Germany",
the chapter about Reichsarbeitsdienst, specifically cap insignia.

On page 286 it is said: "to agree with Reichszeugmeisterei standards". This
simpky means according to manufacturing regulations. The RZM had nothing
to do with businesses from the RAD. The had their own control-system.
See post 15 for organizations the RZM had no competences for.
