Cap Eagle ID opinions wanted

Bill, your one is correctly identified, the marine one is gold with addition of anchor. There is a thread here that explains the differences between these organizations that were eventually all amalgamated under one organization. All very confusing really. I will look for a link later, maybe if HPL2008 (hope that's correct) will jump in again.

this one is labeled as a EM Soldatenbund visor with same insignia.

Ya, I definiteyl agree it is not a Marine version! KB misIDed his on his website for sure! But I keep finding these insignias on Soldatenbund caps?? I agree Tom, these Vet organizations are confusing. Like you said, they all seem to be linked in one way or another.

Maybe this will answer some of your questions......or pose some more. I wish HPL2008 (hope that name is correct) would come explain it again.

hmmm. Very interesting Tom. According to this, It seems that the NS-Reichskreigerbund and the Soldatenbund were around during the same time. It seems that our eagles with the swords behind the wings could be Soldatenbund, but again.....hopefully someone like HPL (Andreas) can put me in line here. haha

In short:

Left-facing eagle with "long" swords = Soldatenbund e.V. (Soldiers' League, Registered)

Left-facing eagle with "long" swords + anchor, = Nat. Soz. Deutscher Marine-Bund (NSDMB) (National Socialist German Navy League)

Right-facing eagle with "short" swords, = Nat. Soz. Reichskriegerbund (NS-RKB) (National Socialist Reichs Veterans' League)

Nice! Thanks Andreas. So Tom, it looks like you have both types, but the large breast ones are Soldatenbund. And mine of course is Soldetnbund too. Very good to know. Thanks for the link too HPL, with the one that Tom found and yours, I have got the gist of the different organizations. Im particularly interested in how they related to the Stahlhelm

Interesting thread. i bought a lot of relics and in it was half of one the 2nd version eagles with the swords on front. i'm curious to find out exactly what it is.
