As this is a printed armband, pictures of the backside and stitching will help. My initial reaction is that it is a period original.

I have seen these with the eagle head turned both left and right. These were mass produced at the end of the war by multiple manufacturers which accounts for variants.

Agreed-original. The heads on these can be found pointing either way.

Thanks everybody for your help. I ended up winning it at an auction for $30. I hope that was a reasonable price.

You did good.
Now you only need to find a original piece of civilan clothing with remains of having such Volksturm armband attached.
