Is this a DLV cap insignia?
I have no idea what it goes to?
Thank you very much

Hello!
I think it is a rare original DLV breast patch IMO.

Hello
Thank you very much.
I was thinking cap and its a tunic breast patch.
Thanks again
Tony
If it is an original one I cannot tell, but it is NOT a breast patch.
I know it is often told it is a breast patch. But read the publication.
According the order of introduction from May 28, 1936 it was to
be worn upon the mid of the right upper arm.
PS: a photo in my possession show the metal version being worn
upon the left breast, but as far as this is known too me, this is not
official.
Further this shown badge should not be confused with the cloth
patch for Bordfunker, which was also worn in the same position.

Thanks as always to Wim for providing us with period documentation. Note that while this is a DLV badge, it was not actually worn by members of the DLV proper, but by certain HJ personnel. This also explains why it is on light brown cloth, rather than cloth in the blue-grey color of the DLV's uniforms.
For the benefit of the non-German speaking members, here's what the order says:
"I. Badge for Aviation Sport Units
In agreement with the Reichsluftsportführer*, the following is ordered herewith:
The members of all HJ aviation sport units as well as the aviation sport officers of all HJ staffs wear a blue-white-red DLV badge with black Swastika woven on HJ shirt twill, namely on the service shirt, service blouse, service tunic and greatcoat. The badge is to be applied centered on the outer side of the right upper sleeve.
The right to wear the badge expires upon exiting the air sport unit.
The members of the HJ air sport units can obtain the badge via the Luftsport-Ortsgruppen**. These are authorized to charge 15 Reichspfennig per badge. Procurement of the badges is undertaken by the DLV-Ortsgruppen*** by means of collective orders from the procurement office of the Deutscher Luftsportverband, Berlin SW 29, Hasenheide 5/6.

*) National Leader of Aviation Sport (The title was instituted in August 1935 and initially held by Bruno Loerzer, who was succeeded by Alfred Mahncke in November 1935. This function was discontinued on 30 April 1937 following the estabishment of the NSFK.)
**) i.e. the local-level air sport units
***) i.e. the local-level DLV units
Thank You so much for the information and picture
I really appreciate it
Tony
As stated by W.Saris it would of been worn on the sleeve.
But you barely see this on period pictures. I think so far i have only seen it being worn 1 time on the sleeve.
Its been worn on caps and on the breast aswell. I own a picture were they are worn on the cap. Also on weitze is a picture for sale were the isignia is worn on the cap.
