    Talking Deutscher Volkssturm Wehrmacht Armband

    Hi everyone!
I picked this armband up a couple of months ago from a museum and wanted somebody's opinion. By the looks of it, is it real or a reproduction? It does not fluoresce under a black light which is a good sign and a thread I cut from it also burnt quickly and didn't ball up like modern cloth. Opinions? Thanks!

Looks fine to me. Nice pick up.

Compare to my example (which admittedly has been "finished", so the edges are stitched)

Lots of examples to compare to on the forum.

Be careful of many of the "museums" (Stores) in Gettysburg selling WW2 items. Many items are fake and prices are a bit crazy. Not saying all are bad but I've visited a number and viewed the wares. They weren't too crazy as I verbally pointed out to my son all the fake and messed with items... LoL

My greatest fear is that one day I will die and my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them

Thanks! It was actually on their website, (Gettysburg Museum of History, Civil War Relics, Gettysburg Attractions), and it seems reputable from reviews and the guys from american pickers even went there. Amazing how you can point out the fakes to your son. Hopefully I can do that one day as well. Also, where would you recommend I find info on how to identify original WW2 items because I want to know if my collection is filled with originals or fakes.

These guys were discussed here a little while ago. On the whole I think they were "OK" if I remember correctly
