I have seen these referred to as Political Edelweiss amongst other things. What was it's real purpose? I suppose this one is a fake. I don't like the look of the back.
Thank you for your help.

Is it indeed a political version of the Edelweiss?
Looking for the photo albums of Leutnant Emil Freitag, 3. / G.R. 377
Thanks Nick. What were they used for?
Tom
It was worn by the SA Gruppe 'Hochland' on their caps

The badge was also worn by NSKK units from Hochland on their sturzhelm and schiffen.

Stug,
it looks as a good Max Kremhelmer from Munich. Why the dark color, I don't know.
It should have a silvered surface for the leaves of the flower originally.
As Stickgrenade and Bob say it was worn with the SA kepi from Hochland and used
with the SA field-cap. The same form was also worn within the NSKK field-cap, kepi
and motor-helmet.
Nice to see you here Wilhelm, I didnt realise you were a member Welcome
