It actually reads 'Jungkameradschaft' or 'Comradeship of Boys'; there is a die flaw on the 'f'. The Hitler Youth (HJ) produced a yearly book for boys called 'Die Junge Kameradschaft' from 1935 onwards. It contained the usual things you see in boy's annuals today, how things work, people of interest, field craft, sport, new inventions and ideas etc. It became increasingly political and anti Jewish after the infamous Kristallnacht' pogrom in November 1938. At this time all German youth movements were subsumed into the Nazi HJ, BDM etc. There were several hundred of these, those that refused were made illegal and closed down by the state.

It is possible that this badge relates to the yearbook, but the lack of a swastika is a bit puzzling. Perhaps when it first came out the swastika was not included so as not to uneccessarily worry the parents of boy's who were not yet fully convinced as to the teachings and beliefs of the 3rd Reich? Or maybe it was one of the hundreds of youth groups that existed before National Socialism became all powerful and the name/phrase was kept in use, albeit in another guise? That I don't know, but it bears thinking about until more informed opinions are stated.

Should this not be Junge-Kameradschaft ? An e at the end of Jung ? Perhaps a German speaking forum member may help here.

I always thought that the use of Junge-Kameradschaft was a generic rather than organisation specific reference.

Interesting however that this badge displays a style of sword often used with Jung-Stahlhelm emblems.

    David
