Hi Troy, a part of the cap insignia:
https://www.warrelics.eu/forum/cloth...nd-visor-2294/
I would simply call it a cap badge: Mützenabzeichen
Cheers, Ade.

Hi Ade, I know nothing about hats, I've never owned one, but now I've found a Kyffhäuser hat on our classifieds. I've asked the seller if he still has it, so I can put my newly acquired abzeichen on it, but can you tell me why the hat in post #1 in the thread you gave me the link for stands more 'upright' if that's the word, compared to the one for sale please? Is the one in the linked thread an officers hat? Is that why it has the gold wreath surrounding the badge? Is the one for sale for other ranks?
Cap Kyffhauser veterans VGC - Militaria Collectibles buy - sell at War Relics
Re -read the thread I put a link to. The answer is there.
Cheers, Ade

Troy,
The badge you have is only 1 part of the cap insignia, you need the gold wreath to go with it, or you could use a standard silver army wreath & cockade, which replaced this type later on in the life of the Kyffhäuserbund. The gold wreath has two locator slots to fit the tabs on the back of your badge to hold both to the cap.
Pete
