Now those long prongs on the rear make sense!
Often the starburst for gorgets was positioned, on behalf of a mother and nut (I hope I say this correctly).
In my stocked material I did find a gorget in wear, which may give the idea of the red inner part with eagle,
but with this occasion the shield is not having the well-known heart-form, but kidney-form. It is impossible
to see if there is a starburst (see close-up). The man with the gorget is a political leader with NSBO-function
(see full photo). It is a pity at the back nothing was written, but the photo must be from about 1933. The
beer pennant or pillow at the back tell us the photo is from the "Eisenbahn-Verein" from Breslau. The men,
wearing the great-coats are members from the Bahnschutz, district 04.
Awesome information from the Oracles. I'm glad to have been proved incorrect.
Right, that does it: I think I can't go without that gorget book any longer. Just ordered my copy!
Will do, Wim. Many thanks!
My friendly neighborhood mailman just delivered my copy of the book. Can't wait to sink my teeth into it this evening, but even from quickly leafing through the pages, it's clear that it is more than worth its price. (Not that I expected anything less, of course.)
thanks and as always some great photos came after the book had been published.
They were intended to go into an English version, but the publisher apparently is
not planning this no more! In spite of the German text collectors would understand
the English version, due to the many photographs.
Sample:
for over thirty-five years I am telling that a specific OT-gorget was fake and the
original should have "eyes" to fasten the chain. Various TR-experts did not agree
with me. But I can proof they are wrong and the original gorget has the "eye"
(see close-up, courtesy Ulber).
Fakes
The enamel damages from the lower one, do remind
us about the damages that one sees these days with
many fake enamel signs, these days offered by the
lots.
