The red base indicates attachement to a Gruppe Staff. The rank is Hauptscharfuhrer. The white collar piping indicates that this tab is made in the post 1939 insignia pattern

the color looks more like a pinkish-red or a salmon-pink color to me,,,indicating Gruppe Alpenland,,,it could be a faded red but the color of the front is consistent with the back,,,any ideas???...thanks,,Robert
